This area is about 12 miles east of Oakdale and about 20+ miles west of Jamestown on the north side of SR 120. There are parking areas on the south and north sides of the Stanislaus river with a visitor’s center also on the north side of the river. The covered bridge dates from about 1863 and was a replacement for one destroyed by a flood. This area is under jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Stanislaus River Parks. There are trails on both sides of the river and are generally level with gently rolling hills. This is a very family friendly area with picnic tables and several areas for walks and picture taking opportunities with the bridge, mill ruins, restored town buildings, and lots of wildflowers. Peak bloom times are from the middle of March through April.
